Even if you and your spouse are one of those rare couples able to dissolve their marriage in a peaceable manner, there is some stress involved. More than likely, you are part of the much larger group of divorcees in Orange County who go through a great deal of drama and trauma. There is no perfect solution to eliminate this stress, but there are things you can try to help alleviate the worst of it.
Exercise
Take a bike ride, go to the gym, work out your aggressions on a punching bag or even a pillow, jump, go bowling. There are tons of hot spots throughout Orange County to get outside and move!
Calm Yourself
Do some positive self-talk, relax with some quiet music, take an evening stroll, pray and meditate, visit a nature center, get a massage.
Get your mind off of it
Go to the movies (especially funny ones) visit a friend, learn a new skill or take up a new hobby, plan a trip for the future.
Be realistic
Understand that this process is painful, but time is a great healer. Share your thoughts and feelings with a trusted friend or counselor.
Remember whatever you do to relieve this inevitable stress, please make sure it is going to help you, and not compound the problems. Beware of drowning your sorrows by overindulging in unhealthy foods, excessive drinking, or abusing drugs.
