Schools out, and you will probably be spending more time with your kids now in Orange County. Make this time special by planning ahead to create some terrific memories together.
Here are a few suggestions for inexpensive activities:
1) Nature Walks and/or Bike Trips
Depending on the age of your children, and your own fitness level you can walk to the neighborhood park, or go on a longer trail. Take along some jars for collecting bugs, and some binoculars for bird watching. The Borrego Trail is an example of an easy longer hike. Be sure if you are riding bikes to wear helmets. You might want to also take a picnic lunch. Irvine, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach and Huntington Beach are ll great locations for nature walks.
2) A Day at the Beach
Jumping the waves together, making sand castles, boogey boarding, collecting shell, these are great activities for younger kids. For the older ones you can add renting a kayak at Marina Del Ray or snorkeling at Santa Monica Beach. Don’t miss these special summer days.
3) Local Events
Check your Orange County local paper or go online to see what particular summer events are happening right in your own backyard. Many cities host free concerts, or special activities such as fireworks in the park.
