Can Both Parents Decide on Child Support?

Parents can agree on a "non-guideline" support amount if they:

• Know fully their child support rights
• Know the guideline child support amount
• re not pressured or forced to agree to this child support amount
• Are not receiving public assistance
• Have not applied for public assistance
• Think that the child support amount is in the best interest of the child(ren), and
• Have a judge approve the amount of child support payments.
