Prenuptial Agreement

Naturally, no one enters into a marriage with the expectation that it will end in divorce. However, in many cases a couple can greatly benefit from drafting a prenuptial agreement. Couples today are waiting longer to get married for the first time which means they may have acquired substantial assets that need to be protected.

Similarly, many couples are getting married for the second or third time, and in addition to assets, there may be children whose needs must be considered before entering into another marriage. A premarital agreement can address all of these issues.

Most prenuptial agreements contain provisions limiting the distribution of marital property and alimony in the event of a divorce, and limiting the distribution of property to a spouse in the event of death.

Dishon & Block Attorneys Assist Couples in Drafting Prenuptial Agreements

By making premarital agreements about how property should be divided, not only can you avoid the potential of expensive and confrontational divorce litigation, but in many cases the parties understand up front what the others' financial expectations are going into the marriage.

Other times, an individual is presented with a prenuptial agreement and requires an experienced divorce lawyer to review its terms to assure that it is fair. In either case, Dishon & Block has the resources and experience necessary to protect our client's interests prior to marriage.
